Next to my house, along the banks of the river the IJssel, I came across him, searching with a special detector.
This Gold Digger collects treasures from ancient times, he has answers, has evidence, and fished everything from the river IJssel that I look forward to every day.
When I’am at his house I can admire his complete collection.
There are objects from the year 1300. (Did people really live here then? )
The man shows me his treasures and his eyes start to shine, a spoon, a drinking cup, marbles, vases, innocent objects with a beauty, so delicate , but immediately afterwards, a “Kloten dagger” appears from the year 1600, people have died because of this, there is no other way.
What an incredible history lies before me, it touches me, it won’t let me go and like so much that passes me by, I want to record it. Exceptionally, I was allowed to photograph these special objects from a bygone era, so that everyone can now admire them. The Goldzuuker arrived on Sunday with three boxes full, carefully packed.
For three days I immersed myself in history, touched, held and felt the objects. It’s like I flew back in time. This series was created with a lot of love and attention.
